# Override the Escrow Date for Transactions

You can ignore or reduce the escrow period for transactions if necessary. For example, you can choose to override the escrow period for specific products or services.

### Required Editions

To reduce the escrow period for a transaction, enter the date to roll over the points in the Escrow Points Credit Date field of the Transaction Journal record. On the escrow points credit date, points are automatically rolled over from the associated member's escrow points balance to their points balance.

To remove the escrow period for a transaction, ensure that the dates specified in the Activity Date and Escrow Points Credit Date fields of the Transaction Journal record are the same. On the escrow points credit date, points are automatically credited to the associated member's points balance but the points aren't credited to the member's escrow points balance.

To automatically roll over points from the member's escrow points balance to their points balance, use the Roll Over Escrow Points to Members Data Processing Engine template definition. If a transaction's escrow points credit date is same as the activity date, the definition automatically credits points to the member's points balance.

Example A loyalty program has an escrow period of 15 days for most products. There’s no escrow period for the Level X product. For the Super Kicks product, the escrow period is 10 days. Members are awarded 750 points for purchasing Level X and 500 points for purchasing Super Kicks.

On March 1, 2023, a new member purchases Super Kicks and Level X. Here are the details of the two transactions journals that are created and the member's balances.
