# Data Access and Export for Accounting Subledger

When your customers or constituents request it, prepare and pack up the data you've received from them to work toward complying with various data protection export requirements.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Unlimited Editions</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong></td></tr></tbody></table>

Some laws and legally binding documents require you and your company or institution to let customers or constituents take their data with them. We’ve listed a few of the obligations that are important to many companies or institutions collecting and processing their customers or constituents’ data.

- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), European Union
- Contracts

Keep in mind that addressing customer or constituent requests can be challenging. A one-size-fits-all strategy may not always work, so adjust your approach to balance organizational needs and legal obligations.

As always, there are pros and cons to each approach, including legal and business impacts and risks, and you’re responsible for your own compliance obligations in your use of the Salesforce Services and applications. We recommend that you work with your advisors, including legal counsel, to determine whether you’re covered under a legal requirement to come up with a compliance plan that’s best for your organization.
