# Adopt Release Updates Proactively

Adopt critical updates before they're enforced, giving you time to test and make updates to your org before they're enabled.

Occasionally, a major release includes a critical update that's enforced for all orgs. These updates are communicated in release notes at least one release prior to enforcement to give you time to test and make configuration updates. After testing, we recommend adopting critical updates before they’re enforced to ensure compatibility and provide plenty of time to make changes, if needed.
