You can allocate inventory either manually or by using auto allocation, depending on your fulfillment needs.
- Manual Allocation: Use manual allocation for complex fulfillment scenarios, such as when inventory must be sourced from multiple warehouses to meet high-volume demand. This allows you to manually select multiple source locations and distribute the required quantity across them. For example, fulfilling an order of 350 units by allocating 150 units from Chicago and 200 units from Dallas.
- Auto Allocation: Use auto allocation for standard fulfillment scenarios where a single source location is already defined. The system suggests allocations based on preconfigured Product Fulfillment Locations. Auto-allocation supports only a single source location per destination.
- Allocate Inventory
Allocating inventory allows users to soft reserve available stock for a specific demand source. Users can choose between auto allocation or manual allocation. - Deallocate Inventory
Deallocating inventory releases previously reserved stock when it is no longer required. This can occur when an order is canceled, modified, or when allocated quantities need to be made available for other demand sources. - Define Product Fulfillment Locations for Inventory Allocation
To ensure correct inventory sourcing, define fulfillment locations for each product and account combination.
