- Inventory Search and Transfer Data Model
The Inventory Search and Transfer data model includes objects and fields that you can use to store information about your inventory, inventory locations, and accounts, and build a search experience for your inventory.
- Permissions for Inventory Search and Transfer
Salesforce admins, inventory managers, partner users, and other users that manage inventory require permissions to set up and use Inventory Search and Transfer.
- Enable Inventory Operation Settings
To let users relate product transfers or disbursements that share the same source location to a single inventory operation, turn on Inventory Operation Settings.
- Configure a Searchable Object for Inventory Search
Create a searchable object configuration to define the object that's the basis of the search experience, how the object's data is updated, and how the object's data is used in the search experience. You can also define how the object's data is aggregated, parsed, and shown in the search criteria and results. You can use a searchable object configuration in multiple search criteria configurations. For your inventory search experience, use the Product Inventory Searchable Field as the searchable object and use an activated copy of the Update Product Inventory Searchable Field Values data processing engine (DPE) definition template to update the object's data.
- Configure the Product Transfer Action for Inventory Search
Define the types of actions that users can perform on search results. Create action configurations to help users launch Flow, Lightning Web Component, or Omniscript-based actions. For your inventory search experience, help users transfer products by creating an action configuration with the prebuilt Product Transfer lightning web component. The Product Transfer lightning web component is a workflow that helps users transfer serialized and non-serialized products across inventory locations.
- Create a Search Criteria Configuration for Inventory Search
Create a search criteria configuration to design the inventory search experience for your users. You can define the fields from the searchable object that can be used as search criteria and shown in the search results. You can also define the display format of the search result and how search results can be filtered, grouped, aggregated, and sorted. You can also define the actions that users can take on the search results. For your inventory search experience, create a search criteria configuration based on the Product Inventory Searchable Field object and the Product Transfer search action.
