Managing Inventory Replenishment

Inventory managers track inventory levels, establish inventory replenishment policies, and manage the requests for products across inventory locations. Inventory replenishment policies define how product items are restocked when they reach a minimum stock level. Automated replenishment processes determine the product items to be restocked based on the replenishment policies. The policy with the most closely matching combination of product and location applies to a product item.

Note
Note Existing replenishment policies continue to use Quantity On Hand unless you update the Replenishment Quantity Basis field. Review your policies to determine whether switching to Quantity Available better reflects stock that is actually usable, especially if you track unusable quantities through Goods Received Notes or Product Transfers.

  • Create an Inventory Replenishment Policy
Inventory managers design inventory replenishment policies to define how product items are replenished when they reach predefined levels. Create policies at both a granular level, such as individual products at specific locations, and at a broader level, such as product categories across all locations. Inventory managers define the minimum quantity at which product items must be replenished and the maximum quantity until which product items can be replenished.
  • CSV File Import for Inventory Replenishment Policies
Easily create, update, and upsert data for a large number of inventory replenishment policies by importing CSV files with the policy data. Prepare CSV files with policy data, import the files to Salesforce, map the CSV header columns to the Inventory Replenishment Policy object's fields, and track import operations.
  • Define Product Fulfillment Locations for Inventory Replenishment
Establish designated replenishment source locations for product items at particular locations, of particular products, or both by creating product fulfillment location records. A product item is replenished from the fulfillment location if it's covered by an inventory replenishment policy with the Product Fulfillment Location replenishment source location criterion. With designated replenishment source locations, businesses get better control, reliability, and scalability for their inventory replenishment operations.
  • How Applicable Inventory Replenishment Policies Are Applied to Product Items
Inventory replenishment policies determine how and when to restock product items. The inventory replenishment policy that most closely matches a product item applies to the product item. If any policy doesn't exactly match a product item, then the applicable policy is determined through a systematic, hierarchical approach.
