# How AI Relationship Research Works

AI Relationship Research uses generative AI and large language models to search across multiple data sources simultaneously and generate an interactive relationship graph.

AI Relationship Research uses generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to search across multiple data sources simultaneously: public web content, your Salesforce CRM records, and optionally, Data 360 objects. The results appear as an interactive relationship graph centered on the record you are researching.

When AI Relationship Research identifies a related person or organization, you can take action directly from the component:

- Select a node to view details about the person or organization and open or create a matching Salesforce record.
- Select an edge to view the nature of the connection between the node and your research target, its strength, and the source evidence.
- Confirm a suggested match between a discovered person or organization and an existing CRM record.
- Create a new contact, account, opportunity, or lead record from a person or organization discovered in external sources.
- Click **Ask** to pass the relationship graph context to Agentforce and ask follow-up questions.

You can generate or refresh relationship insights for a record at any time by selecting the refresh button in the AI Relationship Research component. Insight generation runs in the background. You receive an in-app notification when results are ready.
