Walk through capturing an indirect order, where a telesales rep places an order for a customer account that's fulfilled through a third-party wholesaler or broker rather than directly by the manufacturer. This flow follows the same steps as a standard order, with additional handling for the fulfillment account.
Required Editions
Complete these prerequisites:
- Set up Advanced Orders for Telesales.
- Set up Penny Perfect Pricing.
- Configure the account role with an Indirect allowed orderer type, and create the party role relationship that links the customer account to its wholesaler or broker fulfillment account.
-
Start the order.
- From the App Launcher, open Service Console for Telesales, and open the customer account record.
- In the Action Launcher component, click New Order. The order opens in Draft status.
-
Set the account, order specification, and fulfillment account.
Select the account and an order specification (order type) that allows indirect ordering.
- Orderer type validation: The system matches the account's AccountRole.AllowedOrdererType against the Allowed Orderer Types on the selected order specification. For an indirect order, both must allow Indirect. If they don't match, the system prevents the order from being saved.
- Fulfillment account: If the order specification has Fulfillment Account Required enabled, specify the wholesaler or broker fulfillment account (FulfillmentAccountId) that fulfills the order.
- Partner accounts and addresses: The bill-to, ship-to, and payer accounts are automatically populated, and the billing and shipping addresses are selected, based on the account's Account-Account Relationship (AAR) configurations.
-
Add products from authorized listings.
- Go to the Products tab on the order entry grid.
- Review the qualified products in the Assortments view. The grid shows products qualified for the IOU (Product IOU Qualification) and authorized for the account through its store assortment or location assortment.
- If Is Closed Authorization List is enabled on the order product specification, the rep can select only products included in the active assortments.
- Find the product, enter the quantity, and add it to the cart.
-
Calculate pricing.
Click Calculate (or enable Instant Pricing). The Penny Perfect Pricing procedure prices the line item, returning the net unit price and line total.
-
Review the cart.
- Open the Cart tab.
- Verify the line item—product, quantity, unit of measure, net unit price, and total line amount.
- Review the order header details, including account name, fulfillment account (wholesaler or broker), effective date, price book, and status (Draft).
-
Click Release Order.
The order status moves from Draft to Activated. After activation, the order becomes read-only.
The rep has captured, priced, and activated an indirect order with a single line item for a customer account, fulfilled through the assigned wholesaler or broker.
