# Calculate Rebate Payouts with Data Processing Engine

Use Data Processing Engine (DPE) definitions to transform data stored in various standard or custom objects in your org and to write back the results to a target object. Query, filter, and aggregate Transaction Journal records for rebate calculation. Choose the correct DPE definition for your use case. Clone and customize predefined definitions or create a definition, and then activate the definitions.

- **[Data Processing Engine Templates with Rebate Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.admin_rebates_dpe_templates.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Rebate Management has Data Processing Engine (DPE) templates to help you aggregate transactions by different criteria and manage other rebate processes. Examples of processes are: converting order records into transaction journal records, validating ship-and-debit transactions, and calculating payouts at the parent-account level.
- **[Manage Data Processing Engine Definitions for Rebate Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.admin_rebates_clone_dpe_templates.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Clone and use the data processing engine definitions for Rebate Management as-is, extend them to meet your business needs, or create definitions from scratch. To use a definition for a rebate type, activate the definition.
- **[Customize Data Processing Engine Definitions to Support a Large Number of Rebate Eligibility Conditions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.admin_rebates_dpe_custom_node.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition runs can fail if there are multiple eligibility criteria conditions to filter transactions that qualify for member payouts. Having a large number of filter conditions in a DPE definition increases the recipe size that’s not supported by the calculation engine framework. To reduce the chances of DPE failure, use the Compute Valid Transaction Journals Per Rebate Type custom node.
- **[Group Rebate Payouts by Region and Aggregate by Member (Example)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.admin_rebates_group_payouts_by_region_and_aggregate_by_member.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A company wants to group and aggregate transaction data of rebate program members by region of sale. Program managers and sales managers want to track and reward members based on region-specific sales. Also, the benefits rolled out to the members vary by region. Region-based numbers give insight into the regions where the company can promote their products and increase their footprint. This example shows how you can achieve the aggregation.
