How Are Accruals Calculated?

Define the calculation basis of a rebate type and add an accrual rate to specify how to calculate accruals for members. Be better prepared with your finances for an ongoing period by accruing on a regular basis, even though the actual payout is settled at the end of a period. You can view the accrual and payout amounts of a member for each payout period.

Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions that have Rebate Management enabled.

Understand how these fields on a Program Rebate Type record determine how accruals are calculated.

Field Description Example Value
Measure Type Select the type of reward that you want to offer for the rebate type. Types of rewards include Amount Per Unit, Percentage of Revenue, Fixed Amount, and Custom. Percentage of Revenue
Measure Field Field in the specified aggregation object based on which payout benefit is generated. Total Transaction Quantity
Calculation Basis

Define how accruals and payouts are calculated.

  • Payout: Use benefit setup to calculate the rebate payout amount. The minimum and maximum values along with the applied benefit value for each tier decide how payouts are calculated.
  • Accrual: Accrual amount is calculated based on the accrual rate that you define. If you don’t specify the accrual rate, Rebate Management uses benefit setup.
  • Payout and Accrual: Benefit setup is used to calculate payouts and accruals.
Payout and Accrual
Accrual Rate Fixed rate at which you want to accrue all benefits.

If Measure Type is Percentage of Revenue and Measure Field is Total Transaction Quantity, enter 5 as the Accrual Rate.

Accruals are calculated as 5% of the total transaction quantity recorded by a member.
