Important
Important In Spring '24, we updated the Aggregate by Member with Aggregate Item Details DPE template. If you used the template to create a DPE definition before Spring '24, we recommend that you create a definition using the updated template or modify your existing definitions based on the updated template.

Transaction Journal Records

Acme India and Acme Japan are members of a rebate program. Here are sample Transaction Journal records for January 2021.

Record Member Product Transaction Quantity Product Unit Price Transaction Amount
1

Acme India

Radius 10 $100 $1000
2 Spectra 12 $120 $1440
3 Compass 10 $60 $600
4 Acme Japan Radius 4 $100 $400
5 Spectra 7 $120 $840
6 Compass 4 $60 $240

Eligibility Criteria

The program offers volume-based rebates. The program has 12 monthly payout periods.

The program manager sets up the eligibility criteria for the volume-based rebate type to include all transactions for Radius and Spectra products.

Benefit Tiers

The program manager sets up the benefit criteria for the rebate type.

  • Tier 1: Offers no rebate when the total transaction quantity is less than 20 units.
  • Tier 2: Offers a $2 rebate per unit when the total transaction quantity exceeds 21 units.

Data Processing Engine

The Transaction Journal records are filtered based on the eligibility criteria for the rebate type. Because Compass products aren't included for the volume-based rebate type, those records are excluded. The definition then sums up the transaction amount and quantity for the eligible records, and updates the total values in the Rebate Member Product Aggregate object. For each payout period, two aggregate records—one for each rebate program member—are created.

Aggregated Data

These sample Rebate Member Product Aggregate records are created for the January payout period.

Record Member Payout Period Rebate Type Total Quantity Total Transaction Amount
Record 1 Acme India Jan FY21 Volume-Based 22 $2440
Record 2 Acme Japan Jan FY21 Volume-Based 11 $1240

Aggregate Record Details

These sample Rebate Member Aggregate Item records are created for the January payout period.

Aggregate Record Transaction Journal Record Transaction Quantity Transaction Amount
Record 1 Record 1 10 $1000
Record 1 Record 2 12 $1440
Record 2 Record 4 4 $400
Record 2 Record 5 7 $840

These values update whenever the scheduled flow runs. The flow triggers the data processing engine definition. The aggregate values on the payout calculation date for Jan FY21 are used to update the final payout amounts in the Member Payout object.

Final Payouts

For the volume-based rebate, Acme Japan doesn't receive a payout because the total quantity matches Tier 1. Acme India receives a payout because the total quantity matches Tier 2. The payout is $44 ($2 multiplied by 22 units).
