Set Up Data Processing Engine (DPE) for Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced

Learn how a coordinated sequence of Data Processing Engine (DPE) definitions on Data Cloud calculates accruals and payouts. Clone and activate the standard definitions, execute them in exact sequential order, extend your aggregation model using custom anchors, and build automated flows to run the entire pipeline seamlessly.

Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions that have Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced enabled.
  • Use Data Processing Engine (DPE) for Accrual and Payout Calculations
Clone and activate Data Processing Engine definitions to calculate accruals. Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced uses a coordinated sequence of six Data Processing Engine (DPE) definitions to move and calculate data between Salesforce Core and Data Cloud.
  • Clone and Activate Data Processing Engine Definitions
Advanced Rebate and Accrual Management uses a coordinated sequence of six Data Processing Engine definitions to move, transform, and aggregate high-volume data between Salesforce Core and Data Cloud. Administrators must manually clone and activate these templates before running advanced accrual processing. Once cloned, you can customize the definition's nodes, variables, and aggregation logic to meet your business requirements.
  • Calculate Accruals and Payouts with Data Processing Engine (DPE) Definitions (Example)
This example shows how the six DPE definitions on Data Cloud process transaction data to generate calculation outputs. While this example illustrates accrual calculations for members enrolled in two rebate programs with different aggregation criteria, payouts follow the exact same processing sequence and rules.
  • Extend Accrual Aggregation with Custom Anchors
By default, the Advanced engine aggregates accruals by Member only. The engine supports up to five aggregation anchors in total — Account, Product, and three custom anchors (Anchor1, Anchor2, Anchor3). To track liabilities by dimensions such as Region, Territory, or Channel, you must configure custom anchors. This ensures the Data Cloud engine knows how to group your transaction data for financial forecasting. This requires configuring three DPEs in your accrual calculation workflow.
