Calculate Flat Rebates Per Transaction (Example)

This example shows how flat, per-transaction rebates are calculated independently for each transaction record as it is ingested into Data Cloud without period volume aggregation.

Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions that have Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced enabled.

Rebate Program

A medical device manufacturer offers a fixed promotional rebate on high-value equipment purchases for partner clinics. Metro Health is a member enrolled in the program.

Rebate Type

The program manager creates a flat rebate type and specifies these details:

  • Calculation Type: Per Transaction
  • Measure Type: Fixed Amount
  • Calculation Basis: Payout and Accrual
Note
Note When Measure Type is set to Fixed Amount, no Measure Field is configured because the payout is a flat value rather than a rate per unit.

The program manager specifies a fixed benefit value of $500 for qualifying purchases of the product Diagnostic Scanner X1.

Transaction Data

The following Transaction Journal records are ingested into Data Cloud for processing:

Transaction ID Member Product Quantity Activity Date
TXN-101 Metro Health Diagnostic Scanner X1 2 May 5, 2026
TXN-102 Metro Health Diagnostic Scanner X1 1 May 18, 2026

Member Payouts

Because the rebate type is configured as Per Transaction with a Fixed Amount, the engine evaluates each qualifying transaction independently and awards the fixed $500 benefit directly, regardless of the line-item quantity:

Transaction ID Member Product Quantity Applied Rate Calculated Amount Payout Sources Created
TXN-101 Metro Health Diagnostic Scanner X1 2 $500 (Fixed) $500 1
TXN-102 Metro Health Diagnostic Scanner X1 1 $500 (Fixed) $500 1

Each transaction generates its own Program Rebate Type Payout Source (and Accrual Source) record. Both line items aggregate to a final period payout amount of $1,000 on the Rebate Program Member Payout record.
