# Set Up and Manage Slackbot in Salesforce

Wherever your team works, use Slackbot to get caught up quickly, plan next steps for a customer deal, and find key information fast. All the Slackbot features that are available in Slack, such as web search, skills, and tasks, work in Salesforce, too.

## Step 1: Connect Your Salesforce Org to Slack

If your org was connected to Slack as part of a previous integration, go to the next step.

If your org isn't connected to Slack already, follow the steps in [Connect Salesforce and Slack](https://slack.com/help/articles/30754346665747-Connect-Salesforce-and-Slack).

## Step 2: Turn On Slackbot in Slack

Owners and admins on a Business+, Enterprise Grid, or Enterprise+ plan can turn on Slackbot from the AI settings page in Slack. See [Manage Slackbot access and settings](https://slack.com/help/articles/47249718368019-Manage-Slackbot-access-and-settings) in the Slack help center.

To turn on Slackbot on the free or Pro plan, turn on metered consumption. On the Business+ plan, turn on metered consumption to unlock usage beyond [the weekly per-member message limit](https://slack.com/help/articles/53579676130195-Slackbot-limits-and-credit-usage#slackbot-limits-by-plan). When you turn on metered consumption, you automatically turn on Slackbot, and usage can draw down Flex Credits. See [Set up Flex Credits for Slackbot usage](https://slack.com/help/articles/54291336348051-Set-up-Flex-Credits-for-Slackbot-usage) in the Slack help center.

## Step 3: Turn On Flex Credit Usage for Slack in Salesforce

To use Flex Credits for Slackbot, a Salesforce admin must turn them on to approve this usage in your Salesforce org.

Note Turning on Flex Credits for Slackbot can increase your credit consumption. Learn more in [Billing Considerations for Slackbot](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=slack.slack_slackbot_billing_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Slackbot uses native Slack and Salesforce tools to complete tasks, and Slackbot can use Standard and Advanced Actions to do things like research, build reports, or generate content. Use of Slackbot Standard Actions or Advanced Actions impacts the consumption of credits in these usage types.") and [Flex Credits Billable Usage Types for Slackbot](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=slack.slack_billable_usage_types.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Usage of certain Slackbot features impacts Flex Credits consumption when Slack is connected to a Salesforce org that has Flex Credits. To monitor usage, access your org’s Digital Wallet.").

1. In Salesforce, from Setup, use the Quick Find box to find and select **Manage Slack Connection**.
2. Turn on **Flex Credits for Slack**.

## Step 4: Turn On Flex Credit Usage in Slack

1. In Slack, from your desktop, click **Admin** in the sidebar.
2. Select **Workspace settings**.
3. Click **Settings**, and then click **Slackbot**.
4. Next to **Metered consumption**, click **Edit**.
5. Select a Salesforce org from the dropdown menu and click **Connect**.

## Step 5: Add the Slackbot Permission to a Permission Set in Salesforce

1. In Salesforce, from Setup, use the Quick Find box to find and select **Permission Sets**.
2. Select the existing permission set where you want to add access to Slackbot in Salesforce, or create a new permission set.
3. In the permission set, click **System Permissions**.
4. Click **Edit**.
5. Select the **Slackbot UI** permission.
6. Save your changes.
7. Users assigned to this permission set immediately gain access to Slackbot in Salesforce. To grant the permissions in this permission set to additional users, click **Manage Assignments**, and then click **Add Assignments**.
8. Select the checkboxes next to the users you want to assign and click **Next**.
9. Click **Assign**.

## Considerations and Limitations

Keep these limitations in mind when you turn on or work with Slackbot in Salesforce.

- You can turn on only one Slack tenant or plan in a Salesforce org.
- Slackbot isn't available in sandbox orgs.
- Digital Wallet isn't required if you have a Slack Enterprise plan with unlimited Slackbot usage.
- You can [create surfaces](https://slack.com/help/articles/53908463892755-Create-interactive-surfaces-with-Slackbot) in Slackbot from Salesforce, but you can view surfaces only in Slack.
