1. Set up [Action Plans](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.fsc_action_plans.htm&language=en_US)— Define the required tasks for a process such as a volunteer initiative or other activities.

Actions plans can be applied to the Application Form, Position, and Job Position objects.
2. To create and review applications, set up [Form Framework](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.grmk_form_framework.htm&language=en_US).
3. Add [Form Framework components](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.grmk_form_application_components.htm&language=en_US) to Lightning Record Pages.
4. To track stages for certain objects, set up [Stage Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.stage_management.htm&language=en_US).

Stage Management can track stages for these objects.

    - Volunteer Initiative — For example, track an initiative’s progress through stages and internal approvals, from upcoming and in progress statuses, to completion.
    - Job Position Assignment — For example, track assignments that need approvals or that need hours approved.
    - Job Position Shift — For example, track stages to prepare internally for when a shift is upcoming or completed.
    - Job Position — For example, track stages to support the job positions, from development to fulfillment, and the internal review processes.
    - Position — For example, track stages to support positions, from development to fulfillment, and the internal review processes.
    - Application Form — For example, track stages to review and approve applications.
5. Add [Stage Management components](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.stage_management_record_stage_overview.htm&language=en_US) to Lightning Record Pages.
6. Set up an [approval process](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.approvals_getting_started.htm&language=en_US) for your volunteer initiatives.
7. As a prerequisite to creating an Experience Cloud site, [Enable Digital Experiences](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.networks_enable.htm&language=en_US).
8. [Create an Experience Cloud site](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?language=en_US&id=experience.networks_creating.htm).

A volunteer portal helps volunteers complete tasks. For example, a portal built on an Experience Cloud site can provide a place for volunteers to register, complete onboarding, attend training or continuing education, view and sign up for volunteer opportunities, upload documentation, and track the hours they’ve volunteered.
