# Distribute a Student Survey

Get your student sentiment survey into the world.

- **[Send an Email Using a Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_surveys_distribute.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
If you want staff or users without the Survey Creator permission to send a survey, set up an email template to send out the survey.
- **[Send an Email with a Unique Link](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_surveys_distribute.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
If you want survey responses to be associated with specific students, you can generate a survey link that's unique for each survey respondent.
- **[Embed the Survey in a Student Portal](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_surveys_distribute.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
In your org has a student portal, you can make the survey available to students there by adding the Survey component to a site page. We recommend creating a Feedback page to host the survey. Keep in mind that when students complete surveys in the portal, you can't track their individual results.

## Send an Email Using a Template

If you want staff or users without the Survey Creator permission to send a survey, set up an email template to send out the survey.

[Create an email template](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=email_create_a_template.htm) and include the survey invitation link. Then let your support staff know about the template.

## Send an Email with a Unique Link

If you want survey responses to be associated with specific students, you can generate a survey link that's unique for each survey respondent.

1. In the Student Success Hub app, open the student Contact record (not the Student Record Case).
2. Click the record's action menu and select **Get Survey Invitation**.

    ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-student_success_hub-264-0-0-production-enus/b7ac11a0-381d-499e-afd5-05e856602032/images/icon_note.png)

Note Only users with the Survey Creator permission can see this action.
3. Fill out the survey invitation information.

    1. Choose a survey.
    2. Optionally select a related record, such as the student Case record.
    3. Optionally select your [invitation settings](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=reference_survey_invitation_settings.htm) and [set an expiration date](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=concept_surveys_expiration.htm).
4. Click **Generate Invitation**.
5. Click **Copy Link** to save the unique invitation link.
6. Click **Done**.
7. Send the student an email with the unique invitation link that you copied.

Note Generating the survey link doesn't automatically send it to the student.

## Embed the Survey in a Student Portal

In your org has a student portal, you can make the survey available to students there by adding the Survey component to a site page. We recommend creating a Feedback page to host the survey. Keep in mind that when students complete surveys in the portal, you can't track their individual results.

See [Survey](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=rss_surveys.htm).

Note If during your testing you receive errors that prevent the Survey component from displaying, verify that the profile associated with the site includes Surveys access. From Experience Builder, click the Settings icon, and select **General**. Then click the profile name under Guest User Profile. Verify that the profile has Read access on Survey, Read access on Survey Invitations, and Read, Create, and Edit access on Survey Responses.

For advanced survey functionality, look into [automating a process for generating survey invitations](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=platform.process_action_send_survey_invite.htm&type=5) with Process Builder.
