# Troubleshoot Field-Level Security Permissions

Fix permissions errors that occur in Student Success Hub.

Before retrieving or saving any information, Student Success Hub checks to make sure the current user (support staff, student, or administrator) has the necessary level of access on every field involved in the operation. [Configure K-12 Support Staff Permissions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_setup_security_perms_staff_k12_configure.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Give K-12 support staff the object and field permissions they need to work in Student Success Hub."), [Configure Higher Ed Support Staff Permissions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_setup_security_perms_staff_hed_configure.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Give higher ed support staff the object and field permissions they need to work in Student Success Hub."), and [Configure Student Permissions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ssh_setup_security_perms_student_hed_configure.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Give students the object and field permissions they need to use Student Success Hub from the portal.") detail the _minimum_ required object- and field-level permissions. You may want to make other information, such as other EDA or K-12 Architecture Kit data, available to support staff or students.

**If a user encounters an error in the app or in the portal, it's often because field-level security isn't configured correctly on the user's profile or permission set.** It's easy to miss an item. Pay close attention when you initially configure permissions and check your work thoroughly. When troubleshooting, double-check and even triple-check them again.
