With address management, NPSP ensures that an edit to one record in a Household, including the Contacts, Address records, and Household Account, is copied to all the related records. So to update the Undeliverable address fields for all records in a Household, edit just one of the records.

## Overview

When you're notified of a bad address, mark it as undeliverable in NPSP.

Postal mail is an important channel for donor and constituent management. After sending out your appeals, gift acknowledgments, event invitations, and other written communications, sometimes some of them come back as undeliverable. Perhaps the address was incorrect, the donor's information was incomplete information, or the postal service simply can't deliver to the address that you gave.

When you're notified of a bad address, mark it as undeliverable in NPSP.

## Mark an Address as Undeliverable

With address management, NPSP ensures that an edit to one record in a Household, including the Contacts, Address records, and Household Account, is copied to all the related records. So to update the Undeliverable address fields for all records in a Household, edit just one of the records.

NPSP tracks undeliverable addresses using these fields:

- Undeliverable Mailing Address on the Contact object.
- Undeliverable Billing Address on the Account object.
- Undeliverable on the Address object.

Important If these fields aren't visible in your org, have your system administrator follow the instructions in [Configure Address Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_configure_addresses.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Learn how to configure address management features including address verification, seasonal addresses, and bad address management.").

With address management, NPSP ensures that an edit to one record in a Household, including the Contacts, Address records, and Household Account, is copied to all the related records. So to update the Undeliverable address fields for all records in a Household, edit just one of the records.

To mark an address as undeliverable using a Contact record:

1. Locate the Contact record that you want to update.
2. Click **Edit**.
3. In Address Information, select **Undeliverable Mailing Address**.
4. Save the Contact.

Note If a Contact record has the Address Override field selected, NPSP doesn’t change the Undeliverable Mailing Address field for that Contact. Learn more in [Override the Default Household Address for a Contact](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_override_the_default_address_for_a_contact.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If you have a Contact who prefers to receive their individual mailings at a different address than the default Household address, you can accommodate them by setting an Address Override.").

## Filter Undeliverable Addresses in Reports

3. Click **Filters**.
4. In Add Filter, find and select **Undeliverable Mailing Address**.
