Note Special thanks to community member Eric Grenfell-Muir for helping to improve this article.

For our example, we'll use a spreadsheet of people who signed up for the upcoming event.

1. Create your data import file (csv).
2. Make sure in your data import file, you have a column called NPSP Data Import Batch. For each row in your spreadsheet that you want to include in that batch, enter the batch's Salesforce ID, or you can enter the batch name if you're using an Import tool that supports matching a record by its name, such as the Data Import Wizard.
3. Upload the CSV into the NPSP Data Import object by following the instructions in the [Upload Data from the Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_upload_data.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Learn how to upload data from a spreadsheet to the NPSP Data Importer.") and [Process Your Import](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_process_import.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use NPSP Data Importer to send your data in the NPSP Data Import staging object to target objects such as Account, Contact, and Opportunity.") articles. If you're using the Data Import Wizard, select Salesforce.com ID in the **Which NPSP Data Import Batch field in your file do you want to match against to set the NPSP Data Import Batch lookup field?**

If you need more information on creating your CSV file and importing records, see [Clean and Format Your Data](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_clean_format_data.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Learn to clean and format your data prior to importing it into Salesforce.
