## About Soft Credits

Soft credits represent recognition credit for donations. For example, when a company matches an employee's gift, the employee gets a soft credit for the matching gift.

For more information and examples, see [Soft Credits Overview](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.npsp_soft_credits_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Soft credits are a fundraising concept that represent recognition of credit for donations. Soft credits help you to better understand a donor's history and their level of influence.").

To enable Automated Household Member soft credits:

1. Click ![App launcher icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-nonprofit_success_pack-264-0-0-production-enus/bd2879e2-2bdc-4012-aa32-dc0c697c4538/resources-product/images/app_launcher_icon.png), then click NPSP Settings.

7. Click **Save**.

![The Values related list on the Role field. It shows the new values you entered.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-nonprofit_success_pack-264-0-0-production-enus/bd2879e2-2bdc-4012-aa32-dc0c697c4538/nonprofit_success_pack/images/sc_mg_setup_acctsc_roles.png)
