- **[Model Your Physical Campus](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.eda_model_physical_campus.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the Facility object along with related objects to track data.

## Model Your Physical Campus

Use the Facility object along with related objects to track data.

Example data that you can track:

- The property type and capacity.
- The building (parent Facility) that a classroom is located within.
- The department (Account) responsible for a Facility.
- The staff or faculty member (Contact) who's a Facility's primary contact.
- The student (Contact) who is assigned to a dorm room.
- A class location (Course Offering).
- A class location that varies by day of the week (Course Offering Schedule).

Consider this example of a partial list of Facility records for the Connected University campus.

| Facility Name | Facility Type | Parent Facility | Account |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Corporation Yard | Building | None | Physical Plant Department |
| Ginsburg Hall | Building | None | School of Law |
| Ginsburg Auditorium A | Lecture Hall | Ginsburg Hall | School of Law |
| Ginsburg Auditorium B | Lecture Hall | Ginsburg Hall | School of Law |
| Ginsburg Library | Library | Ginsburg Hall | School of Law |
| South Campus Annex | Building | None | Office of Research and Innovation |
| Recreational Sports Facility | Gymnasium | None | Office of Real Estate and Facilities |
| RSF Pool | Gymnasium | Recreational Sports Facility | Office of Real Estate and Facilities |
| Student Union | Building | None | Office of Real Estate and Facilities |

Notice that Facility records can be organized in a hierarchy, so that you can define in detail how property assets are related, such as a Facility record under a parent Facility record. For example, the RSF Pool is part of the larger Recreational Sports Facility complex, which is administered by the Office of Real Estate and Facilities.
