# Model Suspects and Prospects

Use Education Cloud to track and manage suspects and prospects. For example, you can define the criteria to promote a suspect to a prospect automatically or manually.

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small " summary="Editions Needed"><caption>Editions Needed</caption> <colgroup><col style="width:100%"></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> Editions with Education Cloud</td></tr></tbody></table>

Use the lead and (person) account objects to record suspect and prospect information respectively. When a prospect signals interest in your institution, create a (person) account with their details so that the recruiting team can better engage with the potential student. Because a suspect hasn't yet indicated interest, create a lead record. When a suspect does become interested, they're automatically converted to a (person) account. See [Considerations for Converting Leads](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleview?id=sales.leads_notes.htm&type=5).

## Example

At Connected University, the recruiting team is looking for applicants from the East Coast. They have a list of recent PSAT takers in that region who have agreed to share their information with schools, but haven't reached out to Connected University. The recruiting team prepared the list and imported the data to create lead records for each suspect. Let's look more closely at one suspect, Louis Lombard.

Lead Record
| Record Name | Record Created When... | Record Represents... |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Louis Lombard | Connected University imported a list acquired from a testing service. | A suspect who has not indicated interest in the university. |

The recruiting team sends targeted marketing emails to the leads, and Louis responds to one asking for more information about the Computer Science program. A recruiter responds to the email and then converts Louis’s lead record to a (person) account record.

Person Account Record
| Record Name | Record Created When... | Record Represents... |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Louis Lombard | Louis's lead record was converted. | A prospect who has indicated interest in the university. |

Now the recruiter can deliver to Louis a more personalized experience that focuses on what the Computer Science program can offer.
