Note Starting in March 2023, Salesforce offers Salesforce for Education, which includes integrated platform solutions and managed packages. This article provides information about Education Cloud, a platform solution. For information about managed package products, see [Admissions Connect](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleview?id=sfdo.admissions_connect.htm), [Education Data Architecture](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleview?id=sfdo.education_data_architecture.htm), or [Student Success Hub](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleview?id=sfdo.student_success_hub.htm). If you're not sure which version your institution uses, check with your Salesforce admin.

The Academic Operations app enables registrar staff to manage the academic (or learning) offerings of the institution. Using the app, staff can:

- Use Learning Wizard to create and schedule courses, programs, and customized academic offerings.
- Manage prerequisites, corequisites, and recommendations for enrollment in a course or program.
- Manage learning outcome items and learning foundation items, and associate them with learning achievements.
- Use Learning Program Plan Builder to create and manage program plans.

To enable and set up Academic Operations, see [Set Up the Academic Operations App](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_set_up_the_academic_operations_app.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Configure Academic Operations in Education Cloud to create academic courses and programs, define learning outcomes, manage academic schedules, and configure eligibility and policy rules.").

- **[Set Up the Academic Operations App](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_set_up_the_academic_operations_app.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Configure Academic Operations in Education Cloud to create academic courses and programs, define learning outcomes, manage academic schedules, and configure eligibility and policy rules.
- **[Advanced Academic Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_advanced_academic_operations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use Advanced Academic Operations to extend Education Cloud with student information system (SIS) capabilities that streamline and automate academic processes.
- **[Manage Courses, Programs, and Learning Offerings](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_learning_management.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use Learning Wizard or Business APIs in Education Cloud to manage your courses, programs, or other learning offerings.
- **[Einstein Skills Generator](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_einstein_skills_generator.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use generative AI to find skills and associate them with your learning courses and learning programs with Einstein Skills Generator.
- **[Learner Enrollment](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_learner_enrollment.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the Enroll Admitted Student action on the individual application record page in Education Cloud to enroll an admitted student into a learning program. Automate the enrollment process with Salesforce flows to enroll multiple students.
- **[Course Catalog Creation with AI Tools](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_headless_course_catalog.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A guided session builds a standardized course catalog for your institution. When you describe your courses or provide a source document to a coding agent, the agent analyzes the catalog, checks data quality, and creates the course records tied to their offering college or department. This course catalog prepares your institution for scheduling, enrollment, and advising.
- **[Course Search and Registration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_course_search_and_registration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Provide students with a simplified way to find and enroll in courses. Students search for courses and view details of course sections on a search results page. Students with the right permissions can add courses from the search results directly to a cart. They can review course availability and their own eligibility, and register for courses from the cart.
- **[Enrollment Eligibility](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_enrollment_eligibility_educhars.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use educational characteristics to manage enrollment eligibility and communicate eligibility criteria to students during course registration. Registrars define and assign identity-based attributes to students that apply to specific time frames. The registration process evaluates a student's attributes against course requirements to determine their eligibility.
- **[Course Waitlists](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_course_waitlists.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create waitlists to help students register for fully enrolled courses without constantly monitoring course availability. Add waitlists to popular courses. Configure and manage students’ enrollment priority and timing, and use prebuilt flows to send enrollment offers to students on a waitlist.
- **[Holds and Blocks](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_holds_and_blocks.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Holds and Blocks enforce academic policies on the student body. Registrars can place holds on students who don’t meet specific criteria or requirements to block them from the administrative or academic processes. Students can manage and resolve holds in the Action Center to make sure that they comply with institution-specific policies.
- **[Transfer Credit](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_transfer_credit.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create and manage transfer equivalency relationships and the entire transfer credit process from a single place in Education Cloud that automatically matches and suggests credits. Registrars can use the guided process to review submitted documentation and to articulate transfer credit requests. Applicants request estimates for transferable credits directly in the application portal on the Experience Cloud site.
- **[Attendance](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_attendance.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Attendance turns a routine administrative task into a reliable early indicator of student engagement. It gathers signals from instructors, parents, devices, and systems, applies your institutional rules, and produces a single trusted outcome for every student. Staff and advisors act on that outcome and provide student support.
- **[Faculty Access Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_faculty_access_management.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Faculty Access Management grants faculty access to the course and student data for the courses that they teach. It manages access through academic roles, instead of custom sharing rules. You define which academic roles can read or edit which records, and flows create the sharing from teaching assignments. Scheduled Data Processing Engine (DPE) jobs keep access accurate as course assignments change, so faculty see only the courses they're currently teaching.
