Give learners a dynamic degree planning experience with Intelligent Degree Planner in the Student Success app.

Intelligent Degree Planner enables learners to visualize their possible paths to degree completion. Learner Progress helps them understand what they’ve completed and what remains so they can stay on track for graduation. Intelligent Degree Planner and Learner Progress work together to help learners plan their time accurately and efficiently.

Advisors access Intelligent Degree Planner in the CRM, and learners access it through Experience Cloud. Both experiences have the same intuitive user interface.

Learners can lay out courses on their pathways to graduation by year, term, and session by using an intuitive drag-and-drop canvas. They can also add placeholders as needed. For example, if a learner knows that they select from a group of elective courses but don't know which course they want to take, they can add a requirement placeholder and select a course later.

Providing a clear visual cue of whether a plan meets program requirements, the planner calculates and shows the number of planned, unplanned, and required units (as in credits, credit hours, or other learning measurements) in real time. Depending on configuration, learners can submit their completed pathway for approval and see status updates as their advisor reviews it.

To simplify planning for learners, advisors can create learner pathway templates to serve as a starting point. Advisors and students can stay up-to-date with learners’ progress as they proceed along their pathways with [Learner Progress](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_learner_progress_for_learners_and_advisors.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Include the Learner Progress component from Education Cloud on your Experience Cloud site so that learners can track their academic advancement. Advisors see Learner Progress as a tab on a learner’s case record page in Student Success.").

## Verify Program Requirements

The Learner Pathway Builder includes a **Verify Program Requirements** button that checks whether the prerequisites and corequisites in a learner’s pathway are properly ordered to fulfill course requirements. The same validation runs automatically when a learner or advisor clicks **Save** or **Save & Close**.

When validation finds an issue, a warning icon appears on the affected course cards. Click the icon to see a message that explains the specific issue. Validation warnings don’t block the learner or advisor from saving the pathway.

The button appears for all users who can view the Learner Pathway Builder, but only when the **Automatically Validate Pathway Selections** setting is off. When that setting is on, validation runs automatically and the button doesn’t appear.

To give your learners the best intelligent degree planning experience, consider the planner’s behavior when modeling your data, create a learner pathway global action, and configure sharing to suit the planner. You can also create learner pathway templates, or you can let your learners plan their pathways from scratch.
