In Setup, search for Fundraising, and select **Gift Entry**. Turn on the Gift Entry Grid.

## Create a New Gift Entry Grid Template

Create Gift Entry Grid templates to customize the gift entry data capture for different fundraising scenarios.

1. In Setup, search for Fundraising, and select **Gift Entry**.
2. Under Gift Entry Grid Layout Templates, click **New Template**.
3. On the New Template window, select a template to clone as the basis for your new customized template.

The Salesforce Gift Entry Standard Template is available as the first template you can clone. After you’ve created more templates, you can use those active templates to clone.
4. Click **Next**.
5. Give the new template a unique name and description.
6. Under Display Columns, customize the columns that you want to appear in the grid.
    - Edit (![edit icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/resources-product/images/fundraising/icon_edit.png)) or delete (![delete icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/resources-product/images/fundraising/trashcan.png)) any of the columns listed.

You can change the column label, set the column width, hide the column, make the column required, or change the functionality of the column completely.
    - Drag the columns to order them according to your preference.
    - Click **Add Column** to add new columns to the grid, and then click ![edit icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/resources-product/images/fundraising/icon_edit.png) on the new column to specify the column’s content.

Base columns on fields from the Gift Entry object or on Lightning Web Components. If you use components, in the Cell Edit Component field, set the cell functionality, and in the Cell Display Component field, set how the column is shown.

        ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/images/icon_note.png)

Note Use the hyperlink breadcrumbs at the top of the column to go back to the Display Columns list. Click **Cancel** to discard the template.
    - To set a window to open from a column, set the column’s Modal tab values.

For more information, go to [Set up a Window to Open from the Gift Entry Grid](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_fundraising_create_and_manage_geg_templates.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can customize Gift Entry Grid templates to open windows directly from the grid. For example, you can set a payment window to open to capture payment details, and those details then populate in the grid. The default template indicates several windows in the grid with the expansion icon.").
7. If this template is the default single gift entry template, you can add a postprocessing step. If the conditions you’ve specified are met, this step opens after you’ve finished the entry of the gift.

The postprocessing step can be any step that’s not currently supported by the Gift Entry Grid and that requires the ID of the Gift Transaction or Gift Entry record. For custom steps added within a column or modal and that need the Gift Transaction ID, create a record-triggered Flow, or some other automation, to run after the Gift Entry record is processed.

For example, after processing the gift, you can add a step to create a gift tribute.

    1. Under Gift Entry Post Processing, click **Add Step**.
    2. On the Add Post Processing Component window, select a custom or packaged Lightning Web Component for the step.
    3. To set the component visibility, click **Add Condition**, and then complete the fields and click **Done**.
    4. Save your work.

You can add a postprocessing step to any template, but it’s only used if the template is the default for single gift entry.
8. After your template customization is complete, save your work.

Your new template is in the Gift Entry Grid Layout Templates table.

## Set a Window to Open from the Gift Entry Grid

You can customize Gift Entry Grid templates to open windows directly from the grid. For example, you can set a payment window to open to capture payment details, and those details then populate in the grid. The default template indicates several windows in the grid with the expansion icon.

1. In Setup, search for Fundraising, and select **Gift Entry**.
2. Under Gift Entry Grid Layout Templates, edit an existing template or click **New Template**.
3. To add a window, edit the column from which you want to open the window.
4. Click the **Modal** tab.
5. For the Modal Type, select **Lightning Web Components**.
6. Select a Lightning Web Component.

The component can be a custom Lightning Web Component or the Gift Entry Grid fields modal.

    1. To show your own custom Lightning Web Component in the window, select it from the Lightning Web Component Name field.
    2. To show fields in the window, select **$GiftEntryGrid.FieldsModal** as the Lightning Web Component.

The Fields modal supports strict entry into the fields you choose.
    3. To customize the fields in the Fields modal, click ![Edit icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/resources-product/images/fundraising/icon_edit.png).

You can add visibility conditions and read-only rules, set the field as required or hidden, change the field label, and provide a field default value.

        ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/images/icon_note.png)

Note Hide any of the template default columns that you don’t want to see in the grid. You can still use fields that are hidden in postprocessing rules.
7. In the Modal Label field, enter an intuitive name for the window.
8. To specify your own icon for the window in the grid column,in the Modal Icon field, enter utility:<the icon API name>.

The icon defaults to utility:expand\_alt. You can find the icon API name in the [Lightning Design System 2 Utility icon library](https://www.lightningdesignsystem.com/2e1ef8501/p/83309d-icons).
9. To add an alternate window label, click **Add Label**.

This alternate label is useful to provide a label change based on conditions.

For example, "Create Donor" for a new donor or "Edit Donor" for updating an existing donor record.

    1. On the Add Modal Alternate Label window, enter the name for the alternate label.
    2. To add the condition that triggers the alternate label, click **Add Condition**.
    3. For the condition, select a gift entry field, the operator, and the value that triggers the alternate label.

For example, `Account ID (DonorId) Not Equals null`.
    4. Click **Done**.
10. Save your work.

## Add Templates to Screen Template Name Picklist

To use your customized Gift Entry Grid templates, add the template API names to the Screen Template Name picklist. After you add the API names to the picklist, users can select a template from the New Gift Batch window.

1. In Setup, search for Fundraising, and select **Gift Entry**.
2. Under Gift Entry Grid Layout Templates, note the API name of the templates that you want to make available for selection during batch gift entry.
3. Go to the Screen Template Name picklist field on the Gift Batch object using one of these methods.
    - In Gift Entry settings, from the Gift Entry Grid Layout Templates section, click the **Object Manager** link.
    - In Settings, select Object Manager, go to the Gift Batch object, and open the Screen Template Name picklist field.
4. Add the template API names as values to the Screen Template Names picklist and save.

    ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-education_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/89403874-2a89-4126-b574-9db175c14f28/images/icon_note.png)

Note If the template is from a managed package, make sure to include the namespace and two underscores before the template API name. For example, Namspace\_\_CustomTemplate.
5. To change the template label from the API name, edit the picklist value, and in the Label field, enter the template name.
6. Save your work.

After Salesforce refreshes, the new templates are available for selection in the New Gift Batch window.

## Manage Gift Entry Grid Templates
