# Enforce Time Conflict Validation for Registration

Prevent students from registering for overlapping course sections by turning on time conflict enforcement.

Before you start, [set up Course Registration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_set_up_course_registration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To streamline students' course registration on your Experience Cloud site, turn on Advanced Academic Operations and assign the appropriate permission sets.").

Course Registration automatically checks for time conflicts in a student’s registration cart when a section’s schedule overlaps with another section. Time conflict validation looks for these conditions and sends warnings to the cart.

- Recurrences in course offering schedules with the same start and end dates and times
- Scheduling conflicts among sections in the same academic session
- Sections in different academic sessions with overlapping dates

The optional time conflict enforcement blocks students from registering for overlapping sections, but it ignores waitlists.

1. From Setup, find and select **Set Up Education Cloud**.
2. Under Set Up Academic Operations, make sure that Advanced Academic Operations is turned on.
3. Turn on **Enforce Time Conflicts**.
    
    Time conflict enforcement is reversible.
