# Create Involvement Group Members

Advisors create an involvement group member in Education Cloud to track membership or participation of students in the involvement groups on campus.

### Required Editions

Before you begin:

- [Set Up Your Org for Career Planning and Life Goals](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_set_up_org_for_career_planning_and_life_goals.htm&language=en_US)
- Define values for the Role picklist in the Involvement Group Member object using the Object Manager. By default, these picklists have no values.

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Involvement Group Members**.
2. Click **New**.
3. Select a contact related to the involvement group member. This ‌must be a nonperson contact.
4. Select an involvement group.
5. Enter a description of the involvement group member.
6. Select the date the member joined the involvement group.
7. Select the role of the member in the involvement group.
8. Select the member's level of involvement in the involvement group.
9. Select ‌whether the involvement group member is related to an academic term or an academic year and then select a corresponding value.
10. Save your changes.
