Advisors can create goal assignments to help students ‌set and manage career and life goals, track campus activities, and build a comprehensive action plan for success. Students can create their own goals based on their competencies and traits through the portal.

### Required Editions

Before you begin:

- [Set Up Your Org for Career Planning and Life Goals](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.ec_set_up_org_for_career_planning_and_life_goals.htm&language=en_US)

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Goal Assignments**.
2. Click **New**.
3. Select the status of the assigned goal.
4. Select an account for the parent record.
5. Select dates when the goal is effective and by when the assigned goal is targeted to be completed.
6. Select the goal definition associated with the goal assignment.
7. Select the assignee as contact and then select the corresponding student’s contact value.
8. Select the priority of the goal assignment.
9. Enter a custom goal name for the goal assignment.
10. Select the category as **Career and Life Goals**.
11. Save your changes.
