# Install Case Management

When you install Nonprofit Cloud Case Management, you get a managed package that contains essential metadata and custom code for Case Management functionality.

It's important to note that you can't modify certain components of a managed package, such as objects and fields. They're locked with limited edit access so that the managed package can be upgraded later. For details about managed and unmanaged packages, see [Understanding Packages](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=sharing_apps.htm) in Salesforce Help.

## Before You Install Case Management

Learn about installation prerequisites for Case Management.

Before you install Case Management, make sure you have:

- Purchased a license for Nonprofit Cloud Case Management, which also give you access to Action Plan licenses. To verify your licenses, click **Setup** and enter Company Information in the Quick Find box, then click **Company Information**. Under Permission Set Licenses, confirm that you have active licenses for Nonprofit Cloud Case Management and Action Plans. You won't be able to install Case Management without these licenses. [Manage your subscriptions](https://www.salesforce.com/campaign/your-account/).
- Set up an Enterprise or Unlimited Edition org with one of the following licenses: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or a Restricted Use License for Service Cloud. If you don’t have a Salesforce org, you can sign up for an [NPSP trial](https://www.salesforce.org/trial/npsp/).
- Enabled Lightning Experience in your org. See [Lightning Experience Resources](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleview?id=sf.lex_welcome_to_lex.htm). Case Management is not compatible with Salesforce Classic.
- Enabled My Domain in your org. See [My Domain](https://help.salesforce.com/articleview?id=domain_name_overview.htm) in Salesforce Help.

After you confirm that you have these prerequisites, continue to the next section to install Case Management.
