## Customize Client Note Fields

You can create custom fields and show them on the Client Note. These fields also appear in the Client Notes history on the Contact tab.

1. In Setup, create your custom fields on the Client Note object.
    1. Make sure the fields are visible to these Profiles: Case Manager: Salesforce, Case Manager: Salesforce Platform, and System Administrator.
    2. Add the fields to the Client Note Layout.
2. Add your fields to the Default field set.
    1. Click **Field Sets**.
    2. Click **Default**.
    3. Drag your fields to the field set.
    4. Save your work.

## Customize the Client Notes Lightning Record Page

Show different Client Note fields based on the record type and show Client Note information on related objects. Add tags to be assigned to Client Notes. Turn on manual saving. To make these customizations, create a custom Case Management app for your Salesforce org.

1. Clone the Case Management app.
2. In your new case management app, click the **Client Notes** tab.
3. Click ![Setup](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-case_management-264-0-0-production-enus/4bf5cafc-4c98-4543-b5bf-3b2a6d34e498/resources-product/images/setup.png) and select **Edit Page**.
4. In the Lightning page editor, click the Client Note component.
5. In the side panel, select the features that you want to add:

    | | |
    | --- | --- |
    | Use fields based on Record Type | When you have different page layouts and record types, selecting this option shows fields based on the record type. |
    | Allow tags to be assigned to Client Notes | Selecting this option adds the ability to set tags on Client Notes. |
    | Add buttons to manually create or update a note and remove the auto-save option | Selecting this option disables the auto-save functionality and instead provides buttons to manually create or update a note. |
6. Save your work.
7. Activate the page. When you activate the page, you must create a copy of the managed package's Client Notes Lightning page, which you can add to your case management app.
    1. In Page Settings, add your organization name to the new page to differentiate it from the other page in the package.
    2. In Lightning Experience, select your organization’s case management app.
    3. Save your work.

## Maintain Client Note Relationships

When you're working with a Client Note that's related to other objects, it's helpful to see the note Subject and other details on the related objects.

The Client Note Relationship object connects Client Notes to related objects. This object includes a parent-child relationship with Client Note, a formula field to capture the Note Subject, and lookup fields to the objects where you can relate a Client Note. Salesforce uses the related ID field to show the Note Content on the Client Note Relationship record.

![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sfdo-case_management-264-0-0-production-enus/4bf5cafc-4c98-4543-b5bf-3b2a6d34e498/images/icon_important.png)

Important If you add new custom objects and relate them to the Client Note object, add lookup fields to those custom objects on the Client Note Relationship object and its page layout.

Case Management includes the Client Note Relationships – Unparented report, whichhelps you maintain data integrity in Client Note Relationship records. This report lists all Client Note Relationships for records that have been deleted from Salesforce. You can delete the relationship objects or reparent them to another existing record.
