# Select the Default Scheduling Policy in Workforce Scheduling

Set the org-wide default scheduling policy that Workforce Scheduling uses when scheduling appointments. When field, or both field and on-site scheduling is enabled, Cost Optimized is the default policy.

### Required Editions

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Workforce Scheduling, and then select **Workforce Scheduling**.
2. Under **Scheduling and Optimization**, select **Appointment Scheduling Logic**, and then select **Scheduling Policies**.
3. Select the default policy for manual status changes made on a Service Appointment record page.
4. Select the default policy used when scheduling a new appointment or changing a time slot from the scheduling flow or [Appointment Booking API](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/connect-rest-api/references/connect-rest-api-core#tag/Workforce-Scheduling-Resources).
