How you track contract work in Salesforce depends on how you track capacity, assign appointments, exchange data with contractors, and give them access to the Field Service mobile app.

Create an account that represents the contractor, such as Ursa Major Solar Contracting. Then create contacts linked to the account. Create at least one contact for the contractor manager. If other contractors use Experience Builder sites, create a contact for each user.

Depending on the licenses that your organization purchased, you can assign contractors the Customer Community Plus or Partner Community license. If both license types are available, use Partner Community licenses for users who are engaged in sales or distribution with your company. Community licenses are required to access Experience Cloud sites.

To include contractors in scheduling, assign the Workforce Scheduling Contractor User permission set. To give contractors access to work orders, service appointments, and service resource records, assign the Workforce Scheduling Field Resource Permissions permission set.

To give contractors access to the Field Service mobile app, assign the Field Service Mobile permission set license. Create a user profile for contractors, and then configure their object permissions. To set the login URL for contractors, see [Log In Faster to the Field Service Mobile App with Deep Links](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.wfs_mobile_deep_links.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use a deep link so contractors open the Field Service mobile app with the login URL already set.").

1. Assign the Workforce Scheduling permission sets.

    1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, and then select **Permission Sets**.
    2. Click **Workforce Scheduling Contractor User**.
    3. Click **Manage Assignments**, and then click **Add Assignments**.
    4. Select the contractor users, and then click **Assign**.
    5. Repeat these steps for the **Workforce Scheduling Field Resource Permissions** permission set.

Assigning the Workforce Scheduling Contractor User permission set consumes one Workforce Scheduling Contractor license.
2. Create a Field Service Mobile permission set.
    1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, and then select **Permission Sets**.
    2. Click **New**.
    3. Enter a label, such as Field Service Mobile Contractor. The API Name field is populated for you.
    4. In the License field, select **Customer Community Plus** or **Partner Community**, matching the contractor's user license.
    5. Save the permission set.
3. Select the Field Service system permissions.
    1. Click **System Permissions**, and then click **Edit**.
    2. Select **Field Service Standard** and **Field Service Mobile**.
    3. Save your changes.
4. Configure the permission set's object permissions.
    1. Click **Object Settings**.
    2. Click an object name, and then set its object and field permissions.
    3. Save your changes.
5. Assign the Field Service Mobile permission set to the contractor users.
    1. Click **Manage Assignments**, and then click **Add Assignments**.
    2. Select the contractor users.
    3. Click **Assign**.
6. Select the **API Enabled** system permission on the contractor's profile or on another assigned permission set.
    1. Click **System Permissions**.
    2. Click **Edit**.
    3. Select **API Enabled**.
    4. Save your changes.
