# Set Up Custom Name Format for the User

If you do not set up a custom name format in the external client app or connected app, then the default name format is $User.Id & '@' & $Organization.Id.

### Required Editions

Important Starting in the Summer '26 release, connected apps can no longer be created. New contact centers use external client apps (ECA) for single sign-on (SSO). Contact centers created before the Summer '26 release will continue to use their connected apps for SSO.

To set up a custom name format in the external client app or connected app, add the required name format as the value of the `“https://aws.amazon.com/SAML/Attributes/RoleSessionName”` custom attribute. For example, add the value of the `“https://aws.amazon.com/SAML/Attributes/RoleSessionName”` custom attribute as `$User.Alias & '@' & $User.Id & '@' & $Organization.Id`. The value added for this custom attribute is used as username for the contact center users in Amazon Connect.
