# Prepare to Route to Queues

Verify that you’ve completed these prerequisite tasks before you set up rules to route work to queues.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;"><a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.service_editions_reference.htm&amp;language=en_US" target="_blank">View supported editions</a>.</td></tr></tbody></table>

If you’re using dynamic routing to queues, make sure that there are service reps online in those queues, and that the queue size is set appropriately.

1. [Create the queues](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.setting_up_queues.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Prioritize and assign records to teams that share workloads. There’s no limit to the number of queues you can create, and you can choose when queue members receive email notifications.").
2. [Define routing configuration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.service_presence_create_routing_configuration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Routing configurations determine how work items are routed to service reps. Use them to prioritize the relative importance and size of work items from your queues. That way, the most important work items are handled accordingly, and work is evenly distributed to your service reps. To start routing work items to service reps, create routing configurations and assign them to queues.").
3. To route calls, [map your Salesforce queues](https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=service_map_queues.htm&language=en_US) to the telephony provider queues.
