How Performance Priming Briefcases Work

After you turn on Performance Priming, Field Service creates offline Briefcases for eligible profiles to control which records and metadata sync to mobile clients.

Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
The Field Service core features, managed package, and mobile app are available in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.
To access the Field Service mobile app, users need the Field Service Mobile user license.

Performance Priming Briefcases are read-only in Briefcase Builder. To change which records are primed, update the page layouts and list views assigned to mobile user profiles.

Briefcases regenerate automatically during nightly scheduled jobs, or you can regenerate them manually after making layout changes. Users can check the notification bell for updates.

Resolve the Briefcase Rule Limit Warning

Performance Priming Briefcases support a maximum of 1,000 auto-generated rules.

If your org's page layouts generate more rules than this limit, Salesforce trims the excess rules, typically the "leaf" rules deepest in the object hierarchy. Salesforce then shows a warning on the affected Briefcase, such as You exceeded the limit of 1,000 rules by [number].

Note
Note Trimmed rules don't affect priming of your primary records, such as service appointments or work orders. However, related data deep in the hierarchy isn't primed for offline use.

To resolve this warning:

  1. Review the page layouts assigned to your mobile users' profiles, not just for Service Appointment and Work Order, but also for related objects.
  2. Determine whether mobile users need the data primed for offline use for each related object. If not, remove the unnecessary related lists or fields from the page layout.
  3. If a page layout serves multiple use cases, such as both field technicians and back-office staff, clone the layout and create a use-case-specific version. Remove unnecessary related lists from the technician-specific layout only, so other users aren't affected.
  4. Save your changes. Briefcases regenerate automatically every 24 hours. You can also manually regenerate the Briefcase through the Briefcase UI. See Briefcase Builder.
  5. Confirm that the warning is cleared on the regenerated Briefcase.
