# Run a Process Job

Build dependency-aware views of your discovered infrastructure by running a process job. Select the job that maps the application, cloud, network, software, or virtualization relationships that you want to analyze in Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, and <strong>Unlimited</strong> Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have Discovery enabled.</td></tr></tbody></table>

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small permission">
        <colgroup>
          <col style="width:50%">
          <col style="width:50%">
        </colgroup>
        <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">

            <th scope="colgroup" class="slds-cell-wrap" colspan="2" style="text-align:center;vertical-align:top;" id="d88280e72">User Permissions Needed</th>
          </tr>
        </thead>
        <tbody>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="User Permissions Needed" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d88280e72 ">Manage Discovery Application</td>

            <td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d88280e72 ">IT Service Asset Discovery</td>

          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table>

Make sure that you complete a discovery scan to populate CMDB with asset data and the required discovery data is available for analysis.

Each process job analyzes a specific type of discovery data and creates relationships between the corresponding configuration items (CIs). Rerun the applicable jobs as your environment changes to keep dependency views current.

1. From App Launcher, find and select **CMDB and Service Graph**.
2. In the navigation pane, under **Administration**, select **Discovery**, and then **Process Manager**.
3. Select **Process Jobs** and then click **New**.
4. Select the process job that creates the relationships you want to analyze.

    | Process Job | Description |
    | --- | --- |
    | Application Dependency Mapping (ADM) | Maps observed network communication between applications and infrastructure components. For more information, see [Application Dependency Mapping Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_adm.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Build accurate application dependency views from observed network traffic. The Application Dependency Mapping process job links applications and hosts by using connection data collected during discovery."). |
    | Cloud Hierarchy | Connects discovered AWS and Azure resources into cloud architectures. For more information, see [Cloud Hierarchy Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_cloud_hierarchy.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Turn discovered AWS and Azure resources into navigable cloud architectures. The Cloud Hierarchy process job connects resources by using cloud identifiers so that you can trace infrastructure dependencies in Configuration Management Database (CMDB)."). |
    | DevOps | Maps dependencies across middleware, databases, virtualization, clusters, and load balancers. For more information, see [DevOps Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_devops.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Understand dependencies across web, application, database, virtualization, cluster, and load-balancer layers. The DevOps process job creates relationships from configuration data collected during discovery."). |
    | Network Connections | Maps Layer 2 and Layer 3 adjacency among switches, routers, VLANs, and end devices. For more information, see [Network Connections Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_network_connections.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Visualize how network devices connect across Layer 2 and Layer 3 topology. The Network Connections process job links VLANs, switches, routers, end devices, and chassis clusters from discovered neighbor data."). |
    | Software Installation | Creates product-level software and license records and associates software with discovered hosts. For more information, see [Software Installation Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_software_installation.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Build a product-level view of installed software and license information across discovered hosts. The Software Installation process job creates software and license configuration items and connects software products to their hosts."). |
    | vCenter Hierarchy | Connects discovered VMware objects into a navigable virtualization hierarchy. For more information, see [vCenter Hierarchy Process Job](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.it_srvcs_discovery_process_vcenter_hierarchy.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Turn discovered VMware vCenter objects into a navigable virtualization hierarchy. The vCenter Hierarchy process job connects data centers, clusters, folders, ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and guest operating systems."). |
5. Click **Run**.

    The process job starts immediately and is added to the process jobs list. When the job completes, the updated relationship data appears in CMDB.

You can stop a running process job by using the record-level action on the Process Jobs page. Stopping a job immediately ends the process and prevents further updates to CMDB for that run.
