Software Installation Process Job

Build a product-level view of installed software and license information across discovered hosts. The Software Installation process job creates software and license configuration items and connects software products to their hosts.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have Discovery enabled.

How Software Installations Are Mapped

Discovery creates component-level Installed On and Runs On relationships between installed software or running software instances and their hosts. The Software Installation process job adds the product-level software catalog and license information. For each discovered Windows host or server that has an operating system name and product key, the job finds or creates the corresponding Software and Software License Key configuration items (CIs).

The job associates each Software CI with hosts identified from package inventory, matching operating system names and versions, and software components already associated with the hosts.

When to Run the Job

Run the job after host discovery has collected installed software and operating system product keys. Run it before the Application Dependency Mapping job so that the product-level software catalog is available for dependency mapping. Rerun it regularly to keep software and license inventory current. To start the job, see Run a Process Job.
