IT Compliance uses a versioned record system to ensure audit traceability. When you create a policy or clause, a version record is automatically created in Draft status. To keep your audit trail accurate, always create a new version record when you make significant updates to a policy or a clause.

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **IT Compliance**.
2. Open **Compliance Policies** from the navigation menu.
3. To create the high-level framework for your standards, click **New** and enter the policy details.

For more details about creating a policy and a policy version, see [Create a Compliance Policy and a Compliance Policy Version](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.business_compliance_suite_create_policy_version.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
4. To define specific clauses within a policy, click **Related** on the policy record.
5. Click **New** on Compliance Policy Clause and enter the clause details.

For more details about creating a policy clause and policy clause version, see [Create a Compliance Policy Clause and a Compliance Policy Clause Version](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.business_compliance_suite_create_policy_clause_version.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
6. Save your changes.
