- Make sure that both the source and destination locations share the same **Location Usage Type**, such as Asset based. The system blocks transfers between locations with different usage types to maintain data integrity.
- Make sure that you haven't linked the hardware to an active fulfillment order or service request.

1. From the **App Launcher**, find and select **IT Hardware Asset Management**.
2. Select **Product Transfers**.
3. Select **New**.
4. Enter the transfer details:

    - **Source Location**: Select the stockroom that the hardware is leaving.
    - **Destination Location**: Select the stockroom receiving the hardware.
5. Add the specific hardware to the transfer:
    1. Go to the **Related** tab and select **New** in the **Product Transfer Line Items** related list.
    2. Select the **Product** and specify the **Quantity**.
    3. Link the specific **Asset** record to the line item.
6. When you're ready to move the hardware, change the **Status** of the **Product Transfer** to **Sent**.

    - The asset's **Status** automatically updates to **In Transit**.
    - The **Quantity In Transit** field on the source product item increments, while **Quantity On Hand** remains unchanged at the source until you complete the transfer.
7. After the hardware arrives at the destination stockroom, open the **Product Transfer** record and select **Mark as Received**.

    - The asset's **Status** automatically updates to **Available** at the new location.
    - Inventory decrements from the source location and **Quantity On Hand** increments at the destination location.

The **Asset Activity** timeline on the asset record permanently logs the move, providing a complete audit trail of the hardware's location history.
