# Verify Certificates of Disposal and Finalize Disposal Orders

Attach vendor-provided proof of destruction to a disposal order to finalize asset disposal. Verification stops financial depreciation on retired hardware and triggers compliance notifications.

**System Automation**

Adding an asset creates a disposal order line item and sets asset status to **Pending Disposal**. The system automatically generates a Product Item Transaction (PIT) record linked to the Asset Activity, with a Consumed transaction type and a quantity adjustment of -1.

1. Open the target disposal order record.
2. In the **Quick Actions** panel, select **New Certificate**.
3. Enter certificate details, including **Certificate Name**, **Issued Date**, and **Disposal Method**.
4. Select **Save**.
5. On the certificate record, select **Select Assets**, select the assets to dispose, and select **Save**.
6. Select **Edit**, set File Review Status to **Verified**, select **Final Certificate**, and save changes.

**Automated Notifications and Lifecycle Sync**

- When disposal order status changes to **Disposed**, the system notifies the Disposal Order Requester and Disposal Coordinator.
- When linked asset status changes to **Retired**, the system notifies the Asset Manager and CI Owner.
- The system automatically updates the linked Configuration Item (CI) operational status to **Decommissioned**.
