# Migration Prerequisites

Follow these steps to add a custom field on the Account object.

### Required Editions

1. From Setup, go to the Object Manager tab.
2. From the list of objects, select **Account**.
3. From the left pane, select **Fields & Relationships**.
4. Click **New**.
5. Select Text as the data type, then click **Next**.
6. Enter EmployeeNumber as Field Label and Field Name.
7. Select the External ID checkbox, then click **Next**.
8. Click **Next** and save your changes.
