# Complete Prerequisites for Autonomous Scheduling in the Legacy Agentforce Builder

Make sure to complete these steps before creating your agents.

### Required Editions

Also available with <strong>Einstein 1 Field Service</strong> Edition or <strong>Agentforce 1 Field Service</strong> Edition.</td></tr></tbody></table>

1. Make sure that Field Service is enabled and that you’ve configured a scheduling policy.
2. [Set up Einstein generative AI](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.generative_ai_enable.htm&type=5&language=en_US)

Note Data 360 setup isn’t required for Autonomous Scheduling.
3. [Enable Agentforce](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_setup_enable.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
4. Make sure that the names and descriptions of your work types are as detailed and accurate as possible. The AI agent uses these details to find the most accurate work type for each request. For example, a work type named Installation can have this description, “Setting up new appliances, including proper connection to power, water, or gas lines, and ensuring the appliance is fully operational.”
5. Make sure your agent can assign service territories to service appointments by implementing a service territory classification mechanism, for example, you can use [map polygons](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.pfs_map_polygons_enable.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Set up and configure map polygons so you can draw your own territories directly on the map."). Also, make sure service territories have active service territory members.
6. By default, the Appointment Management for Field Service subagent uses the Customer First scheduling policy, which includes the required work rules. These work rules help the agent get the time slots for an appointment. If you’ve modified the Customer First scheduling policy or if you prefer to use a different scheduling policy, make sure that it includes the [Match Time Rule](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.pfs_optimization_theory_work_rules_match_time.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Match Time Rule is a Field Service Apex work rule type that limits the scheduling time frame based on an appointment’s date and time properties. For example, the Due Date work rule ensures that the appointment’s scheduled end is before its due date.") work rules for the scheduled start and scheduled end of appointments. See [Create and Manage Field Service Scheduling Policies](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.pfs_scheduling.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Scheduling policies in Salesforce Field Service define the rules and objectives (scheduling priorities) for assigning work to service resources. These policies optimize resource allocation by considering factors such as resource skills, job proximity, and urgency, to make sure the right person is assigned to the right job efficiently. By considering scheduling preferences such as minimizing travel time, scheduling as early as possible, and prioritizing preferred resources, scheduling policies improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.").
7. Make sure status transitions are set up. For example, if you don’t have a Scheduled to Canceled transition, the agent can’t cancel appointments. See [Customize the Service Appointment Workflow](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.pfs_lifecycle.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Field Service service appointment workflow shows the sequence of stages that a service appointment passes through. It starts when the appointment is created and ends when it reaches its final status.").
8. Set up a [messaging channel](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.livemessage_intro.htm&language=en_US&type=5) where your customers can have conversations with your agent. You can use an existing messaging channel or create a new one. See [Considerations for Autonomous Scheduling](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.fs_einstein_agentforce_scheduling_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Before you set up your agents, review these considerations and limitations.").
9. Set up a fallback queue to help you move around between the agent and the service reps when escalation is required. You can use an existing queue or create a new one. See [Create Queues](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.setting_up_queues.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
