# Create an Ingestion API Connection

Configure the Ingestion API to push data from external systems into Data 360. This is used for high-volume event data, such as product telemetry or customer activities.

### Required Editions

Make sure that you have Data 360 Admin permissions.

Ingestion API is a REST API that supports two interaction patterns: bulk and streaming. The streaming pattern accepts incremental updates, while the bulk pattern accepts CSV files for periodic syncs. The same data stream can handle both interaction patterns.

1. Go to Data 360 Setup and select **Ingestion API** or select the **Ingestion API Connector**.
2. Click **New** and provide a descriptive API Name for the connection.
3. Define the schema for the incoming event data.
4. Generate and secure the necessary API authentication credentials.
5. Configure the external system to use the new Ingestion API endpoint.
