## General

- Enhanced bots connect to Enhanced Chat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp enhanced Messaging channels, and to Slack and the Einstein Bots API. Enhanced bots are subject to [Messaging channel specifications](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.bots_service_deploy_to_channels.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Einstein Bots can connect to many different end points, expanding the ways that you can deliver bots to your customers. Use the Connections section to view and add standard channels to your bot, or to connect standard and enhanced bots to the Einstein Bots API. To manage routing for enhanced bots, use Omni-Channel flows.") and don’t use Chat-only features.
- To route to service reps, bots, queues, and skills, enhanced bots use Omni-Channel Flow. To route to Slack and the Einstein Bots API, enhanced bots use connections. Enhanced bots support direct bot-to-bot transfers to other enhanced bots only.
- To preview an enhanced bot, use [Text Preview](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.bots_service_preview_bot.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Try out your bot before it’s visible to your customers with Text Preview. Or connect your bot to a Chat channel to preview your bot’s full content.").
- Bot templates are supported for either standard or enhanced bot types. You can create an enhanced bot only from templates created with the enhanced bot type or created from an existing enhanced bot. To learn more about custom templates, visit [Create an Einstein Bot Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.bots_service_create_new_template.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create an Einstein bot template to share your bots. You can package bot templates and share them between orgs or on AppExchange.").
- You can’t create an enhanced bot from the [Intro Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.bots_service_template.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Take a deep dive into the Einstein Bot Intro Template. You can learn how to create great bots by reviewing building tips, conversation design strategies, and bot flow. Create a bot to connect with sales, report an issue, and check the status of an issue or an order."), but you can clone a standard bot created from the Intro Template as an enhanced bot. See [Clone a Standard Bot as an Enhanced Bot](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.bots_service_enhanced_create_clone.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Clone a standard bot as an enhanced bot to upgrade your existing conversation designs with rich content and more flexible routing.").
- Post-chat URLs aren’t supported for enhanced bots.
- Bot session inactivity time limits depend on the channel type.

    - Enhanced Chat: 2 hours
    - Third-party enhanced channels: 8 hours

Inactive sessions can extend up to five minutes beyond the limit because the process that closes inactive sessions runs every five minutes.

## Messaging Components in Enhanced Bots

- Support for messaging components varies by channel. To verify support for a component, review [support for rich content in Messaging channels](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.livemessage_managed_package_lex_differences.htm&type=5&language=en_US) and [considerations for messaging components](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.messaging_components_considerations.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

    - The authentication, custom, and payment components are supported only for enhanced Apple Messages for Business channels. The form component is supported for Apple Messages for Business and Enhanced Chat.
    - The Einstein Bots API doesn’t support messaging components.
- Custom constants in messaging components aren’t supported. To prevent bot performance issues, remove custom constants from messaging components before activating your bot.
- Translation of messaging components and the bot dialog steps that reference them isn’t supported.
- The authentication, custom, form, and payment components and the bot dialog steps that reference them can’t be previewed in text preview.
