# Considerations for Email Template Folders and Sharing

As you manage and share email templates and their folders, keep these considerations in mind.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Professional</strong>, <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> Editions</td></tr></tbody></table>

- Folder names must be unique between Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
- Partner portal users can access public email templates.

## Lightning Experience

- Sharing on Lightning email templates is inherited from the folder it is in.
- Subfolders inherit sharing from the parent folder.
- Sharing a folder shares:
    - All the templates in that folder
    - All subfolders in that folder, along with their email templates
    - Any new templates that are added to the folder in the future
- Lightning Email Template folders are supported in first-generation managed packaging only.

## Salesforce Classic

- Classic email templates can’t be saved to Lightning template folders and vice versa.
- Classic email templates maintain their own folders and folder sharing settings in Lightning Experience.
- Classic email templates and folders don’t show up on the Lightning email templates home. Changes to Classic template folders must be made in Setup.
