# Enable User Control of Email Notifications for Tasks in Salesforce Classic

Display a setting that lets users decide whether to receive an email notification when assigned a task.

### Required Editions

This setting enables both email notifications and UNS notifications.

1. From Setup, enter Activity Settings in the Quick Find box, then select **Activity Settings**.
2. Select **Enable user control over task assignment notifications**.
3. Click **Submit**.

Notification emails aren’t sent for tasks that you assign to yourself; or for tasks that are assigned to another user with the status already set to **Completed**.
