Note We recommend that you add users from one source only. If you sync user records with a data connector, don't add or supplement those users with uploaded records. Admin users aren’t part of plans or teams, so you don’t need to sync them through connectors. See [Considerations for Adding Users in Salesforce Spiff from Multiple Sources](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_users_add_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Integrating users into Salesforce Spiff from multiple sources can lead to errors and system disruptions due to the creation of multiple user tables. Important When you edit the file, don’t edit the field headers on the template. Make sure that you specified the four required fieldsfor each record. Remember to delete the example records.

## Option 1: Upload the Modified Template

Spiff provides two ways to import the users you added to the template. The quickest option is to upload the modified file in the Users page of the Admin menu. This option maps the records in the .csv file to normalized Spiff user table entries for you. You don't have to specify the data mapping.

![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/images/icon_note.png)

Note You can’t reference users that you add from the Admin menu in calculated fields or data filters in Designer. To reference users in calculated fields or data filters, add them from the Data Sources tab instead.

1. In the Upload Your Users to Spiff window where you downloaded the template, browse to the file you downloaded and modified.
2. To check for errors, click **File Import Status** in the toolbar.
3. Review and fix any errors, and try the upload again, if necessary.

To edit users later, click **Download** in the toolbar, modify the downloaded .csv file, and upload the modified file. You can modify only email, name, role, role\_uuid, and preferred\_currency\_code values.

## Option 2: Add a Data Source

Alternatively, upload the .csv file through the Data Sources tab. This option requires some extra steps, but you have more control over the precise data mapping in Spiff. Users that you add from the Data Sources tab are available to reference in calculated fields or data filters in Designer.

1. Make sure that the tab in the .csv file where you added user records is named users.
2. Complete the steps in [Upload Data in the Data Sources Page in Salesforce Spiff](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_upload.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To manually upload records into Salesforce Spiff, import .xlsx or .csv files that represent users, deals, accounts, or other objects.").
    1. On the Map Tables step, select **users**.

![Data Import wizard, showing the Map Tables step with the users table selected](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/sales_performance_management/images/spiff/spiff_users_admin_import.png)

If the users table doesn’t appear, return to the original file and change the tab name to users.
    2. On the Identify Primary Key step, verify that you selected the external\_id field.
    3. On the Configure Fields step, make sure that you map the data to the users table in Spiff. Verify that all fields ‌are string data types.

        ![Configure fields.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/sales_performance_management/images/spiff/spiff_user_management_manual_import_map.png)

After the upload is successful, each user record appears under Users in the Data Imports section.

Next, invite the users to Spiff. See [Invite Users to Salesforce Spiff](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_users_invite.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If your organization isn’t using SSO, you can invite reps to see tier commissions in Salesforce Spiff.").

Tip If your company uses single sign-on (SSO) for usernames and passwords, your SSO identity provider provides access to Spiff, and you can skip the invitation steps.
