- **[Create a Payout Rule](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
From Salesforce Spiff Designer, create a payout rule for a commission plan.
- **[Assign a Payout Amount to a Payout Rule](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_amount.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
The calculations for a payout rule come from a datasheet or worksheet, depending on the requirements of the rule.
- **[Create a Payout Rule from a Payout Amount Field](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_amount_field.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create a payout rule from a datasheet or worksheet field, which automatically assigns that field as the payout amount simultaneously.
- **[Considerations for Using Payout Rules in Multiple Plans](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_multiple_plans.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can use the same payout rule in multiple plans in Salesforce Spiff Designer.
- **[Set Effective Dates for Payout Rules](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_effective_dates.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Just like you can set effective dates for a rep on a plan or team, you can set effective dates for a payout rule on a plan. Effective dates determine when a payout rule appears and calculates commission on rep statements.
- **[Lists and Arrays in Payout Rule Design](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_lists_arrays.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When creating a payout rule, sometimes you need a function that returns a list or array instead of a single data point. These list or array functions are typically used within other functions to create a formula that calculates a single final output.
- **[Include Lists and Arrays in Payout Rules](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.spiff_payout_rule_lists_arrays_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can use list and array functions when creating payout rules in many scenarios.
