Note Turning on Data Pipelines is required only if you’re using the included Data Pipelines licenses that come with Sales Planning. If you plan to use CRM Analytics instead of Data Pipelines with Sales Planning, skip these steps. See [Considerations and Allocations for Permissions and Queries](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.legacy_sales_planning_setup_prepare_permission_sets_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Determine each team member’s level of authority based on their goals and anticipate query allocations in Legacy Sales Planning.").

1. Confirm that you added the Data Pipelines Base User permission set for your Sales Planning users.

See [Assign Licenses and Permissions for Sales Planning](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.sales_planning_setup_prepare_permission_sets_assign.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Give teammates the authority to administer sales plans, manage sales plans, design territories, and edit or view specific areas so that they can participate in the end-to-end sales planning process.").
2. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Data Pipeline, and then select **Getting Started**. Turn on **Data Pipeline**.

    ![Option to enable Data Pipelines](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/sales_performance_management/images/sales_planning_data_pipelines_1.png)
3. Click **Launch Data Manager** | **Data Templates** | **Sales Planning**. Then click **Next**.
4. Enter the name Sales Planning and a description.

    ![Option to enable Data Pipelines](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/sales_performance_management/images/sales_planning_data_pipelines_2.png)
5. Click **Create**.

Data Pipelines creates an app that lets your stakeholders create and update elements necessary for sales planning processes.

    ![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_performance_management-264-0-0-production-enus/b1f2feb4-26b8-444f-97f7-be2349869d93/images/icon_important.png)

Important Do not modify the default sharing setting for the Sales Planning app. Restricting access prevents users from viewing data in Sales Planning and Territory Planning.
