# Define Data Segments for Prospecting Center

You’re ready to create segments now that the data has been ingested and mapped to a unified profile. Marketers define segments depending on the potential customers they want to target, such as people potentially interested in a product or service. Your data segments are specific to your business. For example, a segment can be people who have downloaded your white paper or visited your website more than once.

Note Sales reps can choose which segment to view from the Marketing Segment menu. After they select a segment, they see only the accounts that include contacts from the selected segments, along with the total number of contacts in that segment per account. The total number of accounts owned by the user in the segment also appears at the top of the app.
